Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that belongs to the growth hormone secretagogue class. It acts as an agonist at the ghrelin receptor, also called the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a. The compound was designed in the 1990s during a search for agents that release growth hormone with fewer off-target hormonal effects than earlier secretagogues. It appears in the research literature under several sequence-based names. Material supplied for laboratory work is normally a lyophilized solid, and it is not marketed as an approved therapeutic in major jurisdictions.
The molecule contains five residues, including alpha-aminoisobutyric acid, D-2-naphthylalanine, and D-phenylalanine, and it ends in a lysine amide. Non-natural and D-configured residues make the chain less susceptible to common peptidases, which helps explain its resistance to rapid breakdown. Its molecular formula is C38H49N9O5, corresponding to a free-base mass near 711.9 daltons. The C-terminal amide removes a negative charge and is a recurring feature in receptor-active peptides of this family. These structural choices are usually discussed as the basis for its selectivity profile.
Published animal and early human work describes growth hormone release that is separated from comparable rises in adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol. Prolactin changes are reported as small in the same studies. Selectivity is attributed to binding at the ghrelin receptor and to the downstream signaling that follows, rather than to differences in how quickly the peptide is cleared. Authors commonly label the compound selective rather than potent, because the same mass produces a smaller growth hormone response than some older secretagogues tested in parallel. Whether that profile holds across species and routes of administration remains an open question.
Compared with earlier growth hormone secretagogues such as GHRP-6 and hexarelin, ipamorelin has been reported to produce less stimulation of adrenocorticotropic hormone, cortisol, and prolactin in animal and early human studies. This selectivity is usually attributed to differences in receptor subtype interactions and to the tissue distribution of the receptor. Effects on appetite appear weaker than those of ghrelin itself, although the supporting evidence base is small. Whether these differences produce a distinct clinical profile remains an open question, since controlled human trials are limited.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide first described in the 1990s by researchers at Novo Nordisk during a program to develop selective growth hormone secretagogues. Its sequence is Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, incorporating two non-natural residues, alpha-aminoisobutyric acid and D-2-naphthylalanine. The C-terminus is amidated, and the material is supplied as a white lyophilized powder. The molecular formula is C38H49N9O5 and the monoisotopic mass is approximately 711.85 daltons. The short chain and modified residues give it greater resistance to enzymatic degradation than many larger peptide hormones.
At the molecular level, ipamorelin acts as an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a, the same G protein-coupled receptor that binds ghrelin. Receptor activation couples to Gq/11 signaling, raising intracellular calcium through inositol trisphosphate and diacylglycerol, which in turn promotes exocytosis of growth hormone from pituitary somatotroph cells. Ipamorelin binds this receptor with high affinity and shows weak activity at other secretagogue-related targets in vitro. Its action requires the intact receptor and is not reversed by growth hormone-releasing hormone antagonists.

Storage recommendations for ipamorelin usually focus on temperature, moisture, and light. Lyophilized powder is typically held at or below minus twenty degrees Celsius in a desiccated container protected from light. Reconstituted solutions are often aliquoted and stored at minus eighty degrees Celsius to reduce repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can promote aggregation or degradation. The optimal buffer and pH depend on the specific assay, and no single condition applies to every experimental context. Peptide stability should be assessed with time-point measurements rather than assumed from general handling rules.
In the scientific literature, ipamorelin appears mainly in preclinical studies, receptor binding assays, and reviews of growth hormone secretagogues. Authors often discuss its selectivity profile alongside limitations such as small sample sizes, short study durations, and differences between species. Some papers examine pharmacokinetics and clearance, but human data are limited and not sufficient to define general clinical effects. Regulatory discussion treats the compound as an investigational or research substance rather than an approved therapy in most jurisdictions. Open questions include oral bioavailability, long-term endocrine effects, and whether selectivity observed in animals persists in humans.
Compared with other secretagogues such as GHRP-2, GHRP-6, and hexarelin, ipamorelin is described as more selective. Published animal work reports little or no increase in adrenocorticotropic hormone, cortisol, or prolactin at doses that release growth hormone. This selectivity is the property most often cited in the research literature. Whether the same profile holds across species and dosing schedules remains an open question, since human data are limited and come largely from small studies.

Lyophilized material is generally stored frozen and protected from light and moisture. Typical recommendations place dry powder at temperatures well below freezing, while reconstituted solutions are kept cold and used within a defined window. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided because it can promote aggregation and loss of material. The choice of solvent matters as well; compatibility with the intended diluent should be checked before preparation. These handling practices aim to preserve both the quantity and the integrity of the peptide.
Verification of identity and purity relies on analytical methods used across peptide chemistry. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates components by hydrophobicity and provides a purity estimate. Mass spectrometry confirms molecular mass and helps detect modifications. Together these techniques give complementary information about whether a sample matches its expected structure. Results depend on method parameters and reference standards, so reported purity values are meaningful only when the analytical conditions are stated. Consistency between laboratories requires comparable protocols and well-characterized reference materials.
== Uses == The primary goal of injector pens is to increase patient adherence by making it easier and more convenient for people to use injectable therapy. This is especially problematic with injectable medications given the extra work associated with an injection, as well as the potential aversion to self-injecting medication. Injector pens increase patient adherence by increasing the ease of self-administering injectable medication, as well as the portability of injection medication. Furthermore, injector pens are easier to handle and use than vials and syringes, making them useful in people with low dexterity, cognitive or visual impairment, or those who worry about being able to properly use a vial and syringe. For medications which do not follow standard dosage in all people, injector pens may be designed to enable easier and more accurate administration of an exact dose, whereas a vial and syringe requires the person to prepare the correct dose themselves. Injector pens may also remove stigma or fear around the use of injection medication in public environments, such as insulin before a meal at a restaurant. Combination injector pens which include multiple medications used to treat a disease are designed to reduce the number of injections a person must use to administer their medications. The reduction in number of injections required may decrease the risk of non-adherence due to forgetfulness or unwillingness to self-inject medication.
Steroid hormones are transported through the blood by being bound to carrier proteins—serum proteins that bind them and increase the hormones' solubility in water. Some examples are sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), corticosteroid-binding globulin, and albumin. Most studies say that hormones can only affect cells when they are not bound by serum proteins. In order to be active, steroid hormones must free themselves from their blood-solubilizing proteins and either bind to extracellular receptors, or passively cross the cell membrane and bind to nuclear receptors. This idea is known as the free hormone hypothesis. This idea is shown in Figure 1 to the right.
=== Accelerating methods for shelf life prediction === The kinetic process of destabilization can be rather long – up to several months, or even years for some products. Often the formulator must accelerate this process in order to test products in a reasonable time during product design. Thermal methods are the most commonly used – these consist of increasing the emulsion temperature to accelerate destabilization (if below critical temperatures for phase inversion or chemical degradation). Temperature affects not only the viscosity but also the interfacial tension in the case of non-ionic surfactants or, on a broader scope, interactions between droplets within the system. Storing an emulsion at high temperatures enables the simulation of realistic conditions for a product (e.g., a tube of sunscreen emulsion in a car in the summer heat), but also accelerates destabilization processes up to 200 times. Mechanical methods of acceleration, including vibration, centrifugation, and agitation, can also be used. These methods are almost always empirical, without a sound scientific basis.
== Ecology == Like most Bacilli, the most common ecosystem of Bacillus cereus is the soil. In concert with arbuscular mycorrhiza (and Rhizobium leguminosarum in clover), they can up-regulate plant growth in heavy metal soils by decreasing heavy metal concentrations via bioaccumulation and biotransformation in addition to increasing phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium uptake in certain plants. B. cereus was also shown to aid in survival of earthworms in heavy metal soils resulting from the use of metal-based fungicides, showing increases in biomass, reproduction and reproductive viability, and a decrease in metal content of tissues in those inoculated with the bacterium. These results suggest strong possibilities for its application in ecological bioremediation. Evidence of bioremediation potential by Bacillus cereus was also found in the aquatic ecosystem, where organic nitrogen and phosphorus wastes polluting a eutrophic lake were broken down in the presence of B. cereus. In a study measuring the ability of B. cereus to degrade keratin in chicken feathers, bacteria were found to sufficiently biodegrade keratin via hydrolytic mechanisms. These results indicate its potential to degrade keratinous waste from the poultry industry for potential recycling of the byproducts. B. cereus competes with Gram-negative bacteria species such as Salmonella and Campylobacter in the gut; its presence reduces the number of Gram-negative bacteria, specifically via antibiotic activity via enzymes such as cereins that impede their quorum sensing ability and exhibit bactericidal activity.
==== Distribution ==== Pregabalin crosses the blood–brain barrier and enters the central nervous system. However, due to its low lipophilicity, pregabalin requires active transport across the blood–brain barrier. The LAT1 is highly expressed at the blood–brain barrier and transports pregabalin across into the brain. Pregabalin has been shown to cross the placenta in rats and is present in the milk of lactating rats. In humans, the volume of distribution of an orally administered dose of pregabalin is approximately 0.56 L/kg. Pregabalin is not significantly bound to plasma proteins (<1%).

=== Legal status === Remdesivir is approved, or authorized for emergency use, to treat COVID‑19 in many countries. Remdesivir has been authorized for emergency use in India, Singapore, and approved for use in Japan, the European Union, the United States, and Australia for people with severe symptoms. Remdesivir was the first treatment for COVID‑19 to be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The approval by the FDA does not include the entire population that had been authorized to use remdesivir under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) originally issued in May 2020. In order to ensure continued access to the pediatric population previously covered under the EUA, the FDA revised the EUA for remdesivir to authorize the drug's use for treatment of suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID‑19 in hospitalized pediatric patients weighing 3.5 kilograms (7.7 lb) to less than 40 kilograms (88 lb) or hospitalized pediatric patients less than twelve years of age weighing at least 3.5 kilograms (7.7 lb).
== Pharmacokinetics == Unlike erythromycin, telithromycin is acid-stable and can therefore be taken orally while being protected from gastric acids. It is fairly rapidly absorbed, and diffused into most tissues and phagocytes. Due to the high concentration in phagocytes, telithromycin is actively transported to the site of infection. During active phagocytosis, large concentrations of telithromycin is released. The concentration of telithromycin in the tissues is much higher than in plasma. Telithromycin fulfills a role that has arisen due to the rise of microbial resistance to existing macrolides and appears to be effective against macrolide-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. The defining differentiating characteristic of the ketolides as opposed to other macrolides is the removal of the neutral sugar, L-cladinose from the 3 position of the macrolide ring and the subsequent oxidation of the 3-hydroxyl to a 3-keto functional group.
Due in large part to the success of these tests, assessment was to become the core discipline of clinical psychology for the next quarter-century, when another war would propel the field into treatment.
== History == Clocinnamox (CCAM) was first described in the scientific literature by 1992. MCCAM was first described by 1995. It was developed by researchers at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) of the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH). The drug was of interest in the possible treatment of opioid dependence. However, it was never marketed. Methocinnamox (MCAM), a close analogue of MCCAM, was first described in 2000. MCAM was under development for the treatment of opioid dependence and opioid overdose by 2020.

=== Riken === While the JINR–LLNL collaboration had been studying fusion reactions with 48Ca, a team of Japanese scientists at the Riken Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science in Wakō, Japan, led by Kōsuke Morita had been studying cold fusion reactions. Morita had previously studied the synthesis of superheavy elements at the JINR before starting his own team at Riken. In 2001, his team confirmed the GSI's discoveries of elements 108, 110, 111, and 112. They then made a new attempt on element 113, using the same 209Bi + 70Zn reaction that the GSI had attempted unsuccessfully in 1998. Despite the much lower yield expected than for the JINR's hot fusion technique with calcium-48, the Riken team chose to use cold fusion as the synthesised isotopes would alpha decay to known daughter nuclides and make the discovery much more certain, and would not require the use of radioactive targets. In particular, the isotope 278113 expected to be produced in this reaction would decay to the known 266Bh, which had been synthesised in 2000 by a team at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in Berkeley. The bombardment of 209Bi with 70Zn at Riken began in September 2003. The team detected a single atom of 278113 in July 2004 and published their results that September:
== History == Humans have inhabited the atoll since about 1,000 B.C. The islands were first settled by Austronesian islanders. The first European colonizers to Enewetak, Spanish explorer Álvaro de Saavedra Cerón, arrived on 10 October 1529. He called the island "Los Jardines" (The Gardens). In 1794, sailors aboard the British merchant sloop Walpole called the islands "Brown's Range" (thus, the Japanese name "Brown Atoll"). It was visited by about a dozen ships before the establishment of the German colony of the Marshall Islands in 1885.

Air knife coating Anilox coater Flexo coater Gap Coating Knife-over-roll coating Gravure coating Hot melt coating – when the necessary coating viscosity is achieved by temperature rather than solution of the polymers etc. This method commonly implies slot-die coating above room temperature, but it also is possible to have hot-melt roller coating; hot-melt metering-rod coating, etc. Immersion dip coating Kiss coating Metering rod (Meyer bar) coating Roller coating Forward roller coating Reverse roll coating Silk Screen coater Rotary screen Slot Die coating – Slot die coating was originally developed in the 1950s. Slot die coating has a low operational cost and is an easily scaled processing technique for depositing thin and uniform films rapidly, while minimizing material waste. Slot die coating technology is used to deposit a variety of liquid chemistries onto substrates of various materials such as glass, metal, and polymers by precisely metering the process fluid and dispensing it at a controlled rate while the coating die is precisely moved relative to the substrate. The complex inner geometry of conventional slot dies require machining or can be accomplished with 3D printing. Extrusion coating – generally high pressure, often high temperature, and with the web travelling much faster than the speed of the extruded polymer Curtain coating – low viscosity, with the slot vertically above the web and a gap between slot-die and web. Slide coating – bead coating with an angled slide between the slot-die and the bead.
The international nature of the high seas, means they have limited policing capabilities, which makes the oceans particularly vulnerable to the illicit drug trade. Excluding the 12 - 24 nautical miles surrounding each of the littoral states, the oceans are generally not owned by any particular country. Except for in their territorial waters, law enforcement ships can do very little in terms of policing unless a vessel is registered to their own country. These problems are heightened by a lack of international agreement and cooperation, resulting in an absence of sufficient legal infrastructure to handle the problem. This problem has been overcome previously, as laws have been implemented to enable the boarding of ships in relation to other maritime crimes, such as piracy, but this has not yet been effectively implemented in regards to drug trafficking. In practice, this has meant that vessels suspected of trafficking these illegal substances cannot be boarded by law enforcement, and thus face no legal consequences. Traffickers have taken advantage of this, and are increasingly capitalising on illicit trade through maritime routes. Of the 400 million containers shipped worldwide in 2009, only 2% of these were inspected.

It has not been approved as a therapeutic by major regulators, and the human trial record is small and dated. Material available today is mostly sold as a research chemical for laboratory use. Approval and restriction status varies by country.
It binds the ghrelin receptor, known as the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a. Activation of that receptor triggers signaling that leads to growth hormone release. Selectivity for growth hormone over cortisol and prolactin is the property most often cited for this compound.
Published estimates place the circulating half-life at roughly two hours in humans. Clearance involves peptidase activity and renal handling. Because the peptide is short-lived, release patterns after administration are usually described as pulsatile rather than sustained.
It is a synthetic pentapeptide belonging to the growth hormone secretagogue family. Its principal characterized target is the ghrelin receptor, also called GHS-R1a. The molecule contains non-natural amino acids and an amidated C-terminus.
